933 Sold 50 Silver Medals - John Pinches - Royal Air Force Museum - The History of Man in Flight

A stunning series of 50 silver medals by Silversmith, John Pinches for the Royal Air Force Museum commemorating ‘The History of Man in Flight’. From Leonardo DaVinci’s first scientific studies of flight to the exploration of space, encompassing all forms of aircraft. Each medal features a fine image of one of the fifty significant events in the history of manned flights with details engraved to reverse. All are hallmarked for sterling silver, London with a makers mark of ‘JP’ for John Pinches and all bear the number 0382 which is the number of this set from the limited issue. They are dated to 1972 with the silver assay mark for this year. Each medal is housed in its own capsule and presented in an album. The second album contains a detailed description for each coin detailing the event and historical significance.

Each medal has a diameter of 4.4cm and weighs approximately 40g (total 2kg in silver)
